Suppanyu Avihingsanon thrashes Anup Sridhar in qualifying round of India Open Super Series
Thailand’s upcoming player Suppanyu Avihingsanon found a good start as he thrashed India’s Anup Sridhar at the Men’s Singles qualifying round at the India Open Super Series on Tuesday, April 24, at New Delhi, India.
Suppanyu was on a different level on the first day of India Open when he played remarkable badminton and toppled his local opponent without showing even a slight respect in the court.
The spirited Thai shuttler showed his attacking skills in the court as he played with aggression and managed to win the battle in two games with a convincing margin on the board.
On the other hand, Anup failed to produce better form despite having the support of home ground and home crowd.
He could not live up to expectations and lost to his Thai rival without putting up considerable resistance.
In the opening set, the lanky Indian played well and matched the speed of his aggressive opponent. Both men remained close in the opening rallies as they were positive in the court.
Suppanyu tried to manipulate the loopholes of Anup but failed as the Indian was quicker in taking the bird early.
Until the end of opening half in first game, the score remained close from both contestants.
After the break, Suppanyu took over the control of rallies by playing positive game at net and also executed steep smashes in the right areas.
He remained on track without losing his focus and finished the game with a 21-18 score on the board.
In the second set, Suppanyu was in complete control as he did not let Anup to dominate the pace and remained comfortable in the court.
In the meanwhile, Anup tried to push his opponent on back foot but failed to dictate the pace and remained struggling. Until the break, he was trailing behind on the score board.
After the interval, Suppanyu continued his killing performance against the experienced Indian and did not let him to get a good form.
Thai shuttler was in commanding position and managed to take the set with a convincing score of 21-15.
Suppanyu wrapped up victory in his opening match of India Open with a 21-18 and 21-15 score on the board.
