Supplement packaging?

so, since we bought my horse from my trainer shes just had the buckets of sups in the back and measured and poured everything into his feed buckets when she prepared grain..

but i'm starting to feel the need to have control of his sups (i do pay for him, and the sups!) and want to start packaging them into baggies or something.. but how should i go about doing this?

i don't want it to seem like i'm not happy with what shes doing, since for the most part i am.. but i would also like to do it myself. AND wouldn't it be easier for her if it was already done?!

i just feel weird since i don't want it to come off as "i hate what your doing, and don't trust you with my horses feed" since i honestly do..

maybe i'm just worrying about nothing.. but my relationship with my trainer is very important to me and i don't want to mess it up over something like baggies! haha.

  1. I would suggest just explaining. Having a horse is like a member of your family. If you had a child, and someone came over every day to make his/her lunch in the mornings, It would be sort of awkward. This is the same deal. Just explain that you would like to take on all of the duties of owning a horse, and that packaging the sups is something you'd like to do.

Hopefully, she will understand. Approach it in a casual manner, and everything should work out. I completely understand your situation though! Maintaining a good relationship with anybody that has to do with your horse is a very good idea :)

  2. Put the new supply into the baggies, and put them all in a plastic container, and present them to her.  Tell her that you wanted to make her job a little easier, and hand them to her with a smile.  Even if she doesn't like it, it would be hard for her to object after you have gone to all that bother.

  3. ooohhh well there is this kool new thing called a smart pak and you order the suppliments and they come in little packets and you can customize your own smart pak with the suppliments you want and they will ship them to you every month/week or however often u need them...really neat i think just go to
