  1. Circulatory disorders can have many causes including varicose veins, high or low blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, anemia, weak heart and others. So a different regimen might work best for a specific cause of poor circulation.

That said, these are some of the main herbs used to increase blood flow and/or relax arterial spasm: Cayenne, Ginger, Hawthorn berries (strengthens heart), Prickly Ash Bark, Dandelion (improves kidney function), Linden flowers, Rosemary and Ginkgo. Of these, probably the most widely tested and least likely to have adverse side affects are Cayenne, Ginger, Hawthorn, Linden and Ginkgo. Garlic is known to thin the blood and reduce platelet aggregation.

Lecithin, a component of soy, thins and separates cholesterol to prevent deposits on arterial walls. Oily fish like Cod and Salmon lower the accumulation of blood fats. Magnesium supplements or magnesium-containing foods (fish, apples, bananas, peaches, tofu) lower blood pressure and protects the arterial lining. (Magnesium absorption is inhibited by fish oil so should be taken at a different time of day.) Potassium is important for a regular heart rhythm. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that prevents cardiovascular disease and improves circulation.

  2. Hi, are you looking for something that will help improve blood circulatiion because of constrictions or plaque build up? Here is an article that may help:

"Eat more vegetables for heart  and circulation problems.

Too many people consume processed foods, to the extent that it crowds out better food choices such as fresh vegetables and fruit.

Emphasize vegetables in your diet. Vegetables are full of minerals that you need for heart health and heart disease prevention, such as Calcium, Magnesium and Potassium".

The article mentioned tells of food sources for minerals that may be helpful.

Herbal remedies certainly can help. A proven herbal remedy is mentioned as well.

  3. You can go to a local pharmacy and there are supplements to improve your circulation, there are Cardio Support supplements and others. B vitamins,Ginkgo biloba, and Horse Chestnut seed, I'm not exactly sure how these supplements work. Message, some exercise can, acupuncture and acupressure can help.

  4. Fish oil, garlic oil and many others that you can find in a web search for "blood thinners" + circulation.

  5. Ginger is very good at promoting blood circulation, and fairly safe. You can make a tea easily as well, drink once cup in the am and afternoon (not at night as ginger awakens!) daily.

Cayenne is good, a teaspoon in a cup of water drank quickly can stop bleeding! This red herb seems to be a good blood "tonic" over-all. However, it is POTENT, so be careful if you decide to use it. Wash your hands well before and after use. If you have stomach issues (ulcers, etc.) talk with your health practitioner before using, doctor or certified herbalist. If you are using MAO inhibitors, again, talk with your health practitioner first! Keep it away from your eyes and nose or open wounds.

Horseradish. Fresh, could use in tincture form for best results. :)

And, I recommend for almost anything and everything - dandelion root/leaves and plantain (whole plant is useful, root is most potent)! There are barely any side effects and they are over-all body-boosters. Fantastic for over-all health. :D You can roast dandelion roots and make into a coffee if you're interested in that.

  6. Ginkgo Biloba 60mg per day, has been proven in scientific clincal trials to increase blood flow around the body, and brain.

  7. cayenne pepper helps alot!
