  1. About all that can be done if evidence that proves his guilt comes up later is charge him with perjury.  In Louisville, KY, this happened with a guy named Mel Ignato who murdered his girlfriend Brenda Sue Shaffer.  He went to jail for a couple of years for perjury and is out now sneering at everyone.  It's horrible.


  2. And evidence comes to light that he was, indeed, guilty?  Nothing can be done.  Double jeopardy.  In fact, after the verdict is read, the defendant could stand up in court and admit to the crime.
