  1. The Ford Foundation. I'm a big PBS fan and I believe this foundation's choice of funding to alleviate poverty by giving poor people around the world a way to improve their lives through their own efforts in better than the Gates' focus on disease eradication. What good is it for a starving family to be free of disease without a way to provide for themselves? The Ford Foundation is also active in education here in the U.S. Of course, all three of these are laudable. Also, Jimmy Carter already received one Nobel Prize.
