How would it be different from the universe we see today?

They would come in all shapes and sizes rather irregular compared to our galaxy which is older than the early galaxies, have a look at the Hubble Deep Feild Images and you will see what I mean.

Quasars also played a prominent role in these early formations.

It would be TONS hotter! TONS denser too. And everything would be flying around and kind of clumping together.
