Supposed to be something loose in my Video camera (HV30)?

I have a new Cannon HV30. When the camera is off and I tilt it forward and back, it sounds like something big inside is loose. When the camera is on this does not happen. Does this have something to do with the optical image stabilization?

  1. Yes, it has to do with the optical image stabilizer, but it's nothing to worry about. That's the way a lot of image stabilizers work.

In a sense, optical image stabilizers absorb shock and shake to stabilize the image, so when not in use, or when the camcoder is turned off, the image stabilizer is not locked into place, and therefore creates this rattling sound when shook back and forth. So don't worry, when you turn the camcorder on, the image stabilizer will lock into place. You should be good to go.

    Hope that helps :)
