Supreme Court asks Lalit Modi, BCCI to compromise
The Supreme Court of India has refused to give out a decision in the Lalit Modi v Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 (BCCI) case and in turn asked the warring factions to find out a compromise solution
to the issue. This was regarding the case in which Modi wanted the Indian Premier League disciplinary committee changed because of a potential of bias against him.

The IPL disciplinary committee, which is hearing cases of fraud and financial embezzlement against him, apart from endeavouring to set up a parallel cricket league, consists of Chirayu Amin, Arun Jaitley
and J Scindia. Modi’s contention is that both Amin and Jaitley have a bias against him.

The Supreme Court has also ruled that they would make the decision if the two parties failed to reach a compromise by 27 October.

The Supreme Court said that there could be two ways of settling the impasse – the size of the disciplinary committee could be increased or the three who are a part of the disciplinary committee will need
to remain away from the IPL governing council.

Modi’s counsel, Mehmood Abdi told
CNN: "I am hoping good sense will prevail on the BCCI and they will accept this suggestion."

Earlier, the High Court had rejected the plea for the recusal of both, Amin and Jaitley from the disciplinary committee, following which Modi had filed a petition in the Supreme Court.

According to the BCCI lawyer, CA Sundaram, it was almost impossible to change the IPL disciplinary committee given that many of the witnesses had already been examined.

Earlier, BCCI’s president, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shashank-Manohar-c89791 was also a part of the disciplinary committee but was asked by Modi to remove himself from the panel for the same reasons. The BCCI had accepted this request but
this was followed by another request for recusal of Amin and Jaitley. The BCCI had refused to entertain the same and since then, the Modi camp had submitted the petition in the Supreme Court.

Modi is not in India because of what he perceives is a threat to his life in the country.
