Suraj hot favourite for John Smith´s Silver Cup
Suraj has been rated as the favourite to succeed in the John Smith´s Silver Cup (Handicap) (Listed Race) at York in England on Saturday, July 14, 2012. He will have to beat 15 other runners in the class-1 event in order to win a cash prize of £19,536.
The stamina of all runners will be put to a test in the 1 mile 6 furlong event, which is scheduled to start at 14:25 GMT. Furthermore, the going will be good, as the rain has stayed away from York until now.
There are some extremely good competitors ready to battle out for victory in the race, but Suraj seems to be in a great position at the moment, as he is carrying decent momentum and will like the track conditions as well. He has been priced 7 to 2 by the
bookies and the punters will also be eager to risk bets on him.
The three-year-old colt does not have a lot of experience, but he is not short of confidence at all. His performances so far have been good and his team will be hopeful of a decent result yet again from him.
The Michael Bell’s trainee is relatively new to the sport, as he made his debut in April 2012. He was given a starting price of 20 to 1 in his first ever race, where he failed to make a big impact. Despite that his performance was not bad at all, as he secured
the fifth place out of 11 runners.
In his very next race, the young runner was rated as the favourite to win and he lived up to the expectations of everyone in the end. He was absolutely dominant back then, as no one was able to come anywhere closer to him. He had gained an overall lead of
11 lengths before crossing the finish line.
Galileo’s son was unable to carry on with the same momentum in his next race and finished fourth in it, despite being rated as the favourite to win. He came back strongly though and triumphed in his most recent event, which would have given him immense confidence.
He will be ridden by Hayley Turner today.
