Indian captain for the limited overs leg of the Caribbean tour, Suresh Raina has praised the performance of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in the fourth One Day International (ODI) at Antigua and gave the credit to the home team for the victory.
The tourists chased the totals successfully in the initial three ODIs but failed to get the better of the home team in their fourth consecutive attempt batting second and as a result, lost by a massive margin of 103 runs.
The left hander admitted that his batsmen failed to perform under pressure and could not build partnerships which were required to chase down a good score 249 runs in the second innings.
Indian captain conceived that the Caribbean team outplayed the ‘men in blue’ in this encounter.
Raina said, “We didn’t bat very well but credit must go to the West Indies because they played really well in this game. We’re always disappointed when we’re on the losing side but West Indies batted and bowled really well. Our shot selection was really
wrong. We lost our shape, and we didn’t have any partnerships. Rohit was there playing well again, but Yusuf and I got out at a crucial time”
This is Raina’s first complete series as the captain of the Indian team and his dream of whitewashing the hosts in the limited overs series has not been fulfilled.
West Indian bowlers bowled exceptionally well in the fourth ODI and proved that still there is a lot of talent in the Caribbean. The right-arm leg spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andre-Dwayne-Russell-c44235 took seven wickets between themselves to help their
team’s cause.
India’s bowling coach; http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Frederick-Sykes-c65697 Simmons has also admired the performance of the West Indian bowlers and said that he liked the aggressive approach of the home team’s bowlers in Antigua.
“They bowled with a lot of aggression in this game. Sometimes, it happens so that a team plays well when the series is gone. They take that chance to play really well,” said Simmons.
The two teams will be up against each other tomorrow in the final match of the limited overs series and both will be looking to seize the psychological advantage before the Test series by winning the last ODI.
