Surf contest in Half Moon Bay?

Question

I know this is stupid, but I have been searching the internet about a surf contest in Half Moon Bay going on in the next couple of months. I want to go but no one knows what I am talking about there. Maybe I have the dates mixed up. Or maybe it is not in Half Moon Bay, but is along the coast somewhere. If anyone can help me out thanks so much!!!

look out for the great whites around half moon bay/mavericks. they're HUGE there

they have to wait to determine the best competitive conditions and it's a real touchy spot so it takes careful planning but your timing is pretty good.

It’s on again! Sometime between January 1 and March 31, 2007 - 24 of the world’s greatest big-wave surfers will descend upon the frigid waters of Half Moon Bay for the chance to ride "the most dangerous waves in the world."

Half-Moon Bay, California—Under near perfect weather conditions, ceremonies commenced January 6th on the beach in Half Moon Bay, California, signaling the official opening of the 2007 Maverick’s Surf Contest.
