  1. If you want to do it mathematically, here is the way:

    Simply use the Surface Area formula for a sphere since the moon is a sphere:

    SA=4pi(r^2)

    We need to find the radius, so the radius is half the diameter:

    r=3840/2

    r=1920

    Now justplug this into the formula:

    SA=4pi(1920^2)

    SA=4pi(3686400)

    SA=46324660.63

    The surface area of the moon is approximately 46324660.63 km^2

    (NOTE: THIS IS JUST AN APPROXIMATION, THE MOON IS PRECISELY A SPHERE, BUT IT'S CLOSE ENOUGH)

    Hope this helps!!!!!!!

  2. SA of a sphere = 4 * pi * r^2

    Plug in your radius, and you'll get 12,110,400 pi => 38,045,943.67 km^2

    But that's just an approximation, since you need to take into account all the different surface features like craters and mountains.

  3. Do the math: 4 Pi r ^2, where r is 1/2 diameter...
