Question:

Surfboard Dings Questions...

I know there's a question similar, but if there's a ding (mines on the bottom - eek!) but there are no fracture marks/gashes etc, do you or can you fix it. I can fix like fractures, but what about dings without cracks?

Can you use Suncure or repair normally, or is there another method?

  1. meh a little pressure ding never hurt anyone, isn't worth fixing unless you can actually notice a different in your rides, i would be doubtful if you could, so long as water is not getting in from it you are fine

  2. Sounds like you are describing a pressure ding. You probably banged your board on a hard point (head, elbow, knee?). If there are no cracks visible, it is probably still water tight, and more of a cosmetic problem than any thing. They are a pain to 'fix' because you woud generally try to fill it up with resin so it's even again, and then of course carefully sand it. Unless you see cracks or discoloration around it, best bet is to just live with. I got one on the bottom of my 6'4" twin fin in the early seventies, and I never did anything to it, and I rode that board until the early 90s. I got it resin'ed over when I put the board on the wall.
