Surfboard decals?

I saw in a surfing magazine once that you could create a decal for your surfboard just from computer paper, I just want to know if anyone has ever heard of this or knows how to do so?

  1. I thought about doing this, but haven't.  Here is what I found out....Have to use high quality rice paper printed with waterproof ink.  the board is prepped in the area with light sanding.   A light coat of finishing resin then the new board tatoo.  The resin will soak into the paper...carefully add a little resin to any area that doesn't become transparent.  Make sure you have the tattoo flat because moving it around won't work after you set it in place.  You can either place additional coats of resin on the tatoo to seal it and then lightly buff with dense wet/dry sandpaper and water. Polish off with some rubbing compound. You can also cover the tatoo with a single layer of glass and finishing resin (a bit more work and sanding involved).  Good luck.
