Question

Which surfboard bag is better, the FCS "Dayrunner:

or the Dakine Daylight:

I have a budget of $55 or so, my brother said dakine is a better brand, but it looks to me like the FCS may be a better choice for the price - any opinions?

i have the dakine daylight it a  good bag, i used to have an fcs board bag but the zips got rusted together.i had to cut it open to get my board out.

I've had the fcs bag for about three years and have no complaints, min i paid about 90 for, 10 ft longboard

Interesting remark from the answer about the zipper.  I have 7-8 bags and like the FCS but have had issues with FCS zippers.  They loose a tooth when they get weathered, usually just beyond the replacement date, and then you need a new one.  FCS bags also get hot inside and the wax melting causes the board to stick to the inside material better for some reason.  My Dakine bags never seem to have any problems.  Go with the Dakine.

that is not a lot to spend on a nice board.  My last two cost over $400 apeice.  Good luck!

Looks like they are pretty similar to me.  Both paddings are about the same thickness.  I have a DaKine bag for my long board and it seems to work fine.  I just bought a OAM travel bag for my short board for essentially the same price.  I really like it because the tabs for the shoulder straps are ballistic nylon instead of plastic so they don't bang against the car roof.
