  1. if your front foot is your LEFT foot,  try "right knee left foot forward" which means while your hands are still on the board put your right knee on the board then left foot forward

  2. The hand positioning is really important........don't put them on the rails......plant them on the deck of the board.......not side-by-side either....I like to put my right hand slightly closer to the nose than the left.....and then drag your feet up into a crouching position......then stand

  3. 1) you're weak.  try pushups.

    2) if you can't get your kees to also pop up off the board then try doing a man-style pushup (basically a slower version of the pop-up), where you push your whole body up on your toes.  Then it's only the tips of your toes and your hands touching the board and it's much easier to suck your legs and trunk up underneath you.  girly pushups don't cut it - you'll never have success dragging your knees into place

Yes, it's a hard sport to learn and to progress in, because it requires fantastic fitness, timing and balance.  I can't think of a more difficult sport to master.

  4. You have to go straight to your feet. If you got to your knees first and then try to get to your feet, you'll never get up. Which sounds like the problem you're having. Pratice on land popping up from the prone positions to your feet. When you stand up you should be facing side ways with one foot forward on the board. Do NOT practive on the board on the ground, just the ground is fine.
