Surfing-Beginner?

Question

I just began surfing today my friend let me borrow his board. I went out addled and found my balance for about an hour. About an hour in a rode an incredible wave and was able to stand up. I got such rush it as incredible i never thought it would be that great and fast. I just wanted to know surf ethics like who hs the right of way and stuff like that i dont want to annoy the other surfers

ya jake O is right. also the person with the right away is the person closest to the whitewash, or the person closest to the waves peak.(its hard to discribe in words)

The person closest to the breaking part of the wave has the right of way.
