Question:

Surfing Fitness?

Was curious if theres any surfers on here and if so what type of fitness do yall do out of the water to get you ready for when your on the swell?

Anything, regiments, stretching, etc, would be greatly appricated.

  1. There are conditioning drills that specifically help surfing.  There are also yoga drills that help.  I wrote an article you can read on the web that covers most of it.

  2. Push ups and swimming are the best things I know of.  Balance drills are good, yoga is great for flexibility and strength.

    I kayak or climb when I'm not surfing so it all fits in together with core strength and stamina.

  3. Snowboard, Wakeboard, skateboard, and cycle 120 miles a week

  4. stretch run on a football field and every ten yards hold your breath for 5 yards up and back get some stamina bra got a pool laps top and under surfer push-ups have fun late

  6. pullups, pushups and situps. Try to incorporate balance with the pushups and situps with a ball.
