  1. There are tons of great surf spots on Long island and the entire length of the jersey shore. If you are a left coaster, you should understand the the Atlantic lays down most of the summer. However, with Hurricane season in full swing right now, we might have some great prospects.

Montauk Point is legendary. Although I haven't been there in years, my last trip was duly impressive. I surf south Jersey (Cape May and Atlantic Counties) and I have found something ride-able almost every time I have been out since Memorial day weekend (on memorial day weekend, there was NO swell, but I went out an paddle around. It was even too small for me to longboard on).

My son lives on Staten island, and is two hours away from our usual breaks in south jersey. I'm not really sure how long it will take to get out to Montauk from the city. But, there are a bunch of great places between those spots and and you.

I won't tell you where my favorite NJ spots are, they are crowded enough already, but it has been a fun (not epic but fun) summer so far.
