Surfing in NYC???

Question

in from southern ca and i am a huge surfer, but im spending the summer in the big apple. heard there was some surf there but i need to know where to go, what is the best type of board, and any other advice you guys have about me surfing in nyc..

There is absolutely surf in NYC.  Check out Long Island.  I believe that is a photo feature on Surfline (www.surfline.com) right now about the NYC surf culture.

Not to worry - head out to Long Island. They have some REALLY great breaks out there. Not as consistent as Southern Ca, but when it is breaking it is really hot there and can hold some big swells.. Hurricane season = time to head out there!

As far as types of boards, no different than California.

it pretty muck sucks but if you go go to rockaway beach its usaually not very crowded
