Surfing in Texas?

Question

Has anyone ever surfed in Galveston, Texas? If so, what part of the beach? I want to learn to surf so badly, but the only nearby beach is Galveston!

Are the waves in Galveston good for a beginner? I go almost every summer and the waves kinda look big enough to surf, but I'm no expert obviously...

I have rarely seen waves big enough to surf off any Galveston beach.

You might want to check out South Padre Island.  There were some decent waves when I was down there several years ago.

I live in Houston and started surfing in Galveston. The waves along the seawall are surfable, but they're not exactly the "ideal" surfing type.

If you're looking to start out, it'll be ok, but you'll want to find a better area pretty quickly.
