Question:

Surgeons and physicians in Special Ops?

Does anyone of you know, which units integrate physicians in special operation units? I heard NAVY Seals now have emergency surgeons join them on their Ops.

Who knows, what it takes for military doctors to get there, what further training are they required to go through? And who has some more details to share?

I'm not talking about 18D which are SF medical sergeants.

Thanks in advance!

  1. the navy seals do now offer medics what you have to do to beome one is join the navy sign up for bud/s pass a pst then go to idoc after that you go to bud/s complete that which is a vary hard thing to do after bud/s you go to a specialty school such as sniper or medic after that you choose a sea; team or sdv team and have on the job traning

  2. sf also has office spots for medical talkto a sf recruiter or a regular army recruiter i know that sf aviation units has flight surgeons

  3. The "medics" that go out with these fine folks are trained and proficient in all forms of combat medical situation. I found that even the 18 deltas you speak of are more prepared for what happens to the human body & mind when really torn up than any EMT that might respond in the world. For that matter, I would say that in the care of a SOMedic you have a better chance out there in the field, than in most ER's state side. As far as training, ask a SF Medic what thay did to his goat. They mess that poor goat up...BAD, and if it dies, they don't pass. Don't tell the animal rights folks though, they would have a cow.
