Question:

Surging Problems on '03 Dodge Ram 1500?

I'm having surging problems at speed (especially using cruise) with my '03 Ram. I've read various fixes for this and one of the most common problems is a bad/dirty EGR valve. The problem is when I called the dealership, they said the '03 Ram 5.9L (Not a Hemi) doesn't have an EGR. Is this true and could the problem be a Throttle Positioning Sensor?

  1. a throttle position sensor will cause that too happen especially at cruising speeds, have the computer scanned on it that should throw a code if its that bad, anything that causes a running problem like that should throw a trouble code,i tell you one thing i been seeing a lot of lately is bad fuel pumps on those, for some reason the pumps don't want to hold up well, you might want to have the fuel pressure checked on it that may have something to do with what yours is doing also, good luck.
