Question:

Surgury after being Run-over, Long-term pain?

My cat broke her pelvis this morning after being run-over. My vet suggests that surgery is the best option, otherwise without surgery, she will walk with a limp.

Does surgery cause long-term pain for a cat? Have you been in a similar scenario?

  1. For a female cat, isn't being spayed surgery? If you have a good cat surgeon, then I guess that it would be the same for humans--pain for like, a week, and then slowly disappears. I hope your cat feels better soon.

  2. no surgery will cause a lot more long term pain then surgery.

either do the surgery, or put her to sleep.

ask the vet if putting her to sleep is warranted. he might believe putting her to sleep is the better option, but if you come in looking to save the cat, he offers surgery.all depends on what you ask for.

  3. If your cat has a broken pelvis then he really does need surgery.

He would be worse long term without it
