  1. Flemming is the British term for an immigrant from Flanders (now part of Belgium). It's a widespread name because there were so many immigrants from Flanders and they lived throughout the British Isles after they fled during the Inquisition and the Reformation.

    stops after it shows 200 people. It stopped at 200 for both surnames when I used just the county. There were less when I limited it to Darlington, but you never know; your ancestors may have been in East or West Newbiggin back in1881, and moved to Darlington later.
