Surprise Moment well prepared for Coco Dolly And Gladstonian Fillies´ Handicap at Nottingham
Saeed Bin Suroor’s juvenile filly, Surprise Moment, is full of spirit after making a winning debut at Windsor, and holds an obvious chance of carrying forward the good work. The 3-year-old is set to show her magic in the Coco Dolly And Gladstonian Fillies´
Handicap, being held at Nottingham on Friday, August 17, 2012.
In the hands of Mickael Barzalona, the novice looked quite solid on her first appearance. Despite not getting off to a fine start, the 4-1 chance did not lose her determination, and kept running well.
She made herself prominent three furlongs before the wire, but there was still a plenty of work to do. The filly ran brilliantly inside the final furlong, and led in the closing stages of the event. An excellent effort helped the debutant steal the show
by half a length.
Experience counts a lot at this level, but one should not overlook Surprise Moment’s chances for the first position. Her confidence is at a high, and an equally good work would be enough to earn her success today.
She is due to face nine quality runners in the 1m2f50y meeting, which will be kicked off at 15:50 GMT. A cash prize of £4,075 will go along with the winner at end of the day.
Silber Sycamore has not been disgraced in either of her starts for this yard. David Lanigan’s charge is stepping down to this class after finishing sixth in the Delancey Handicap at Royal Ascot last month. So, confidence should not be an issue for her, and
she is definitely open to improvement over this extra yardage.
Lacily, who has not yet done well so far this season, has plenty to prove today. Princess Caetani struggled at Goodwood after an emphatic 1m2f Salisbury win. No Compromise was quite clear-cut at Leicester, and would have a role to play today.
Both Surprise Moment and Silver Sycamore are full of confidence because of different reasons, and an exciting battle is on the cards. The former is in winning mood at the moment, and should be preferred. Good luck to all the runners.
