It has been confirmed that Stan Lee, the creator of numerous iconic Marvel characters, will be appearing in the latest Spider-Man game.
Cameo appearances in movies may be a norm in that particular industry, so much so that the audience may even expected them in certain situations, yet for the video game industry, a guest appearance still has its charm.
Ezio Auditore from Assassin’s Creed and Kratos from the God of War trilogy both appeared in different Soul Calibur titles and their inclusion was received with enthusiasm.
Yet while the excitement of those characters appearing in the game was limited just the gaming demographic the inclusion of Stan Lee in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man game will be sure to please fans of the legendary comic book artist as well.
Stan Lee confirmed he would be making a cameo appearance in the game that would tie-in with the reboot of the movie series. In fact, to term his inclusion in the game as a ‘cameo’ would be understating just how involved his likeness in the game would be.
It turns out that players can unlock a ‘Stan Lee’ skin in the game and play the entire game as the legendary artist. The announcement was made by the man himself during the London Super Convention.
At this point details of the game are still a bit scarce, yet we do know that the game is set to hit shelves a week before its Hollywood counterpart is released. So one can expect a divergent storyline in the game that will not spoil the movie for anyone.
How Activision, the game’s publisher, plan on doing that is anyone’s guess yet in all honesty all players will want to do is go web slinging around the skyscrapers of New York City and deal some hurt to any thugs they encounter.
The bar for superhero games has been raised tremendously since Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City were released, so The Amazing Spider-Man has a lot to do in order to please the fans of the web-slinging superhero.
The Amazing Spider-Man is set for release on the 3rd of July across all major platforms, apart from the Nintendo Wii which will receive the game on the 26th of June.
