People are cheering for Carlos Quentin, Josh Hamilton, Miguel Cabrera, or even Cliff Lee, etc...but I say this year's AL MVP should be Dustin Pedroia. Here's why:

He's the MLB leader in -

Runs with 110 scored (with respect to the injury to Ian Kinsler, former MLB leader).

Hits with 191, nine more than Ichiro (and no one beats Ichiro in hits!)

He leads the AL in average, .333

For a person 5'9" (shorter than Lincecum btw), he has very respectable power numbers with 17 HRs, 76 RBIs.

In addition to his excellent offense, he backs it up with a gold-glove-worthy .991 fielding percentage, 4th best in the AL (tops is .993)

Basically, without Pedroia, Boston would be in 3rd place, behind the Yankees.

DP for MVP.

  1. i agree i think he rocks and i love the sox but i son't think he'll get it. I wish he would but i think it'll be Hamilton.

  2. he's good but not good enough. quentin or hamilton will win.

  3. mike avilies should get it.  he has changed the royals team.

he is always hitting and makes amazing infield plays.

  4. Quentin, hands down

  5. Carlos Pena should be in the Discussion without him where would the Rays be? Quentin will win it, although If Pedroia has a good month he might get some votes

  6. i think the number of hits a person gets is very overrated, but his average is still extremely impressive. if he has a great last month of the season, then i think he will win the MVP only because so ESPN will have a story that they would actually be interested in. not that he's not worthy of the MVP, but i just think the white sox offense would be god-awful if quentin didn't step it up this year. and quentin is my pick for american league MVP.

  7. Your definately right. he should be the MVP in my opinion. They were just talking about him in ESPN and it is pretty amazing what he has been able to do with his height. I hope he wins it because he is a modest young player with loads of talent

  8. deserves it but wont get it

  9. Carlos Quenton

  10. Justin Morneau has been under the radar and is hitting well over .300, will have around 125 RBI. The HR count isn't that impressive by his standards but he has the Twins half a game behind the White Sox.

Pedroia's a nice pick and would make a great story but only because there's no individual currently leading the Rays.

  11. Cool he deserves it

    Actually he's 5'7

    ;0

    Go Red Sox

  12. those are some good number he has but i dont think he will get it. it will be either Quentin or Hamilton.

  13. It actually depends on how the teams fnish.

If my White Sox fail to make the playoffs, I do not want to see Quentin as MVP, I have been the old-fashioned you help your team win, then you get to be MVP.

If White Sox make it, it's Quentin.

If they don't, it's going to be Pedroia.

The Rangers aren't good enought for Hamilton to be considered.

  14. No. Quentin should win it!

  15. Yeah, not bad numbers...

I've always said he's one to watch. =)

Plus the Red Sox are right in the thick of the WC race, so that helps too.

And dang, if Kinsler weren't out, he'd still be the leader in runs scored... No offense Pedroia, but it's the truth!
