Surprised Tan Kim Her ready to take up challenge as head coach of Men’s Doubles squad – Badminton news
Malaysia’s Tan Kim Her, who has been performing his duties as the coach of back-up shuttlers, is surprised on being promoted by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) as the head coach for the Men’s Doubles elite squad. He is ready to take the challenge
and prove his worth by employing his maximum abilities in the fulfilment of his job responsibilities.
Kim Her was in Chinese Taipei when the BAM made this decision. He was with Malaysian players who were participating in the Chinese Taipei Open Grand Prix. Now, he intends to meet BAM officials including the general manager, Kenny Goh and secretary, Ng Chin
Chai for further details regarding his job responsibilities.
While talking about his unexpected appointment as head coach of Men’s Doubles, Kim Her said, “It was a bit of a surprise that they appointed me as the head for men’s doubles because I was still in Taiwan at that time.”
He further added, “I can’t say much about the appointment but I will meet Chin Chai and Kenny today to discuss my position.”
The BAM changed the coaching structure after observing the poor performance of Men’s Doubles shuttlers in numerous events during the past one year. Previously, the doubles squad was working under the supervision of Rexy Mainaky, but now the coach has been
transferred to train the Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles shuttlers. Kim Her will now work in the position which was previously held by Rexy.
Kim Her has been performing well as the coach for Men’s Doubles back-up shuttlers. His performance has earned him a high position and now, he will focus to train shuttlers for the upcoming 2012 London Olympics.
BAM also merged back-up shuttlers with the elite squad and now, both squads will train together under the supervision of Kim Her. In the training sessions, the head coach will have the assistance of two other coaches, Rosman Razak and Pang Cheh Chang. With
the added responsibility, Kim Her is now set to prove his worth in coaching at the highest level.
