Surrey batsman Tom Maynard killed in a tube accident – Cricket News Update

Maynard, the 23-year-old son of former England player Matt Maynard, was found dead on the rails of a tube station in south London, early Monday morning. Initially it was reported that the rookie Surrey cricketer died in a car accident, however, the British
Transport Police rebuffing the reports, confirmed that Maynard’s death has occurred as a result of a tube accident.
The British Transport Police revealed in its statement that the BTP officers were informed about the incident at 5:30am on Monday morning, and when a BTP team, accompanied by Metropolitan officers and London Ambulance Service medics, visited the line near
Wimbledon Park London Underground station, they found Maynard, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Surrey County Cricket Club expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of the young batsman.

The England and Wales Cricket Board Chairman, Giles Clarke, also paid tribute to the deceased club cricketer, and termed it as a very sad day for ECB, Maynard’s current County, Surrey, and Glamorgan CCC, where Tom spent the early part of his career.
