Surrey v Middlesex – County Championship Division Two – Surrey’s 2nd Innings Recap

The hosts were following-on and managed 379 runs in their second innings. They were bowled out for 117 in their first outing.
Middle-order batsman, Tom Maynard, was the hero for Surrey, as he scored 141 runs in the second innings. None of the players managed to reach even thirties in the first outing.
The pitch was good for batting, as it had eased out with the passage of time. There was some moisture beneath it, which allowed the bowlers to get some swing and seam movement on the first two days.

Middlesex were dominant on most part of the first three days, but lost some momentum towards the end of the third day and the start of the final day.

The innings was then set on track by Hamilton-Brown and Mark Ramprakash. The pair put together 74 runs for the second wicket partnership before the latter was dismissed for 21.
