My question-

*I would like to ask my sister to be a surrogate mother for my husband and I, I got my tubes tied and Since she is my twin the baby would look like me.

*Would I have to go through an agency or could we just do it.

* What after the baby is born, how woudl that work?

*Would we have to adopt the child or could we just put us on the birth certificate?

  1. If the reason is JUST so that the baby looks like you, I wouldn't recommend it.  This is an enormous decision, and it's HIGHLY recommended to choose surrogates that are professional surrogates (the one-time thing, especially with someone as close as your twin, is filled with potential complications.  Too many to list!)

Also, you can still hire a surrogate with your own egg.  Your ovaries are fine; you just had a tubal ligation.  In fact, you may even be able to reverse the surgery.

If you did want to move forward with it, site down with your sister, your husband, and a lawyer to get everything sorted out.

  2. You can have your egg and your husbands sperm put inside your sisters uterus, if your sister agrees, and then you wouldnt have to worry about adoption or anything because the baby is YOURS not your sisters :)

  3. You need a lawyer to sort out the laws in your state. I was a srro-mom in 2002 in California. My name is nowhere on the birth certificate... lawyer draws up all the legal papers before-hand. You may also want to consider an agency, they are a 3rd party and think of things that may come up that you don't think of....

  4. if you're one of those by the rules people then you have to pay money and get paperwork then adopt, if it were me i'd do it myself just the three of us and get my baby after we leave the hospital have her sign a contract then case closed

  5. well how would you feel knowing that you sister is the mother of your child and than how would you feel if the baby ever found out that you werent the real mommy...??? but yea no you dont have to adopt the baby becuse technincally its gonna be yours and you just have to do artificial insemination...but ya gotta see if she wants to do it first

  6. I do not think having your sister be a surrogate is a good idea. If you have your tubes tied you can easily get them untied with a surgery. I think it would be hard for a surrogate to be in the same family of the baby that they have carried and given up. It could potentially cause problems. Your best bet would be to get a lawyer and go through an agency because just having your sister have a baby and give it to you with no legal paper can potentially cause a legal battle where you lose the child. And cause family problems as well. Then again things could work out perfectly... talk to a lawyer :)
