Surround Sound / Home Cinema system for xbox360, sky+ & dvd player?

Hi

Can anybody help me please? I'm looking for a home cinema system that I can use with my 360, sky+ & dvd player. My budget is about £100 - £150. I don't know much about this kind of stuff, but think I need an optical input on the system for 5.1 to work on the 360.

If anybody has any suggestions, or advice as to what I should/shouldn't be looking for, I would be grateful.

richer sounds have a home cinema package on there website at the momet a receiver and 5.1 surround speaker package for £150 you only need a dvd player to connect to it and is fantastic value for money.

You would be hard to find a decent system for £150.... the fact that you want optical as well means that your looking at

some half decent kit. My optical cable cost me £60 from Qunex

You dont need Optical for 5.1 unless you have a really strong performing system and you want to fine tune it

however if you can stretch to £199 then you can buy the Pioneer Sound system that was purposely designed for the xbox360 from play.com and it handles optical

it'll also handle Sky+ and your Xbox is your DVD player anyway, but it will handle a standalone

if you really are stuck to a £150 budget then i would recommend Ebay, its very expensive to Post out so they always go for very little on there, my father in law bought a sony davs system for £140 all in.... about 4-5 years ago that would of retailed for about £700!

Dont go for a cheap soundsystem though, you get what you pay for, just keep looking for those decent sound systems

Its all about the cabling as well, ensure you get good cabling!
