Surround Sound???

We are thinking about buying another LCD TV, we bought a 26" for the bedroom about 6 months ago and love it except for the sound. We are going to buy another that is similar, but a little bigger for the living room and I want better sound.

I don't want a bunch of speakers or boxes as I want to hang it on the wall, here is the type of speaker I'm considering,

Will it hook directly to the tv I am going to get? We have Dish Network and I know we can hook speakers directly to it but I would like to keep the satalite box in the bedroom (out of site), it is set up for 2 tv's, separate remotes so it doesn't need to be in the living room.

Is there any place to get a speaker like a little cheaper?

  1. The best way to do surround sound is to run the full speaker/reciever array. You will need the reciever for the satellite anyways, simply place the reciever with that with the only one cable running to the TV, and the rest off to the side hidden. Run the speaker cables under the carpet or floor.

  2. I looked at the Boston speaker and it looks like this is probably your best bet.  This is a new type of speaker designed specifically for flat panel TVs with "weak" sounding speakers.

Yes, it will hook directly to your TV with a single audio cable.  And the sub is wireless so you can place it anywhere you like, hidden and out of the way (e.g. in the corner, next to your couch, etc.), it just needs to be plugged into the wall to get power.  It receives its signal from the soundbar speaker.

So you will send only the coax cable from the satelite box to your TV (keep the satelite box in your bedroom), then connect the audio out on the TV to the sound bar and you'll be all set.  Good luck!

  3. Hows it going.

That system should be fine. If you want to check for cheaper speakers. Goto parts express.com. They have Dayton speakers which sound very good for the price. You can get 5 speakers and sub for less than the system your looking at. You could even find a receiver and have a good surround system for $5-600.00. Nothing but good reviews on the speakers. Good luck.
