Ok, this is my setup.

Xbox 360 Premium

Audiovox DV 1201, it has NO optical but has digital input (the orange color one)

Polaroid 19" hdtv with no digital or optical input.

Any advice for how I would set this up?

  1. Apparently it's a huge pain in the sphincter, by all means they should have the port on the back I mean come on, the original Nintendoes had digital coaxial audio out, stock! From everything I'm reading you need the HDMI cable that comes with the optical/rca output adapter, then get a converter that changes optical to SPDIF (aka digital coax or just coax). They seem to run around $40, but you may find something cheaper just be wary that they convert optical TO coax and not the other way around. anyway I found this one http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?ca...

which seems to fit the bill just fine, as I understand the 360 is still using an AC3 file for its surround, which it generates on the fly apparently, so the SPDIF should be able to handle that just fine just make sure that the 360 is set to output Dolby Prologic II and that the receiver set to receive a digital signal and output in surround.

Good luck, I have run across a couple hacks but this should be much more painless
