I bought a 1080P samsung lcd, and am thinking about getting a home theater...i see many systems that will upconvert...is it worth the extra to get one that will upconvert all the way to 1080P...and i don't want many dvds...also...does any one have thoughts on the panasonic home theater systems? or have an experience with the wireless that comes with them?

  1. Upconverting really isn't worth it, it does not make the source look better and 480p looks great if your tv is tuned. (try considering tuning your tv before anything else - Avia DVD's are great or professionally done is even better). As for audio best for price range try getting a Denon Receiver and Paradigm Cinema Series HTIB. Heres my recommendations. If you really truly want to enjoy a home theater sounds is much more important then screen (I spent 3500$ on audio and1500$ on Video). I will throw in what I would recommend as the best bang for your buck.

Also Denon makes HTIB packages that are reasonable as well. Have a look around and see what you like, but realisitcally if you want a good theater sound should never be the place that you short change.

  2. Don't go with wireless and don't go with a package either. I've tried both and the sound just is nothing special for spending 1700 dollars. Get a nice A/V receiver like a pioneer. Buy everythng seperate instead of a home theater in a box. Get bose speakers they are the best out there and are worth the extra cash. You only need 5 but if you want amazing sound go with 7. 5 would be left front center right front sub woofer left back and right back.
