Hi,

I have a Mac Mini, and use it as a media center for my movies, but I would like to get a good set of speakers, such as these:

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1041998417.1215207312@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccejadeeiegjlelcflgceggdhhmdgmj.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=836032&category_oid=-29775

Sorry for the long link... However, my Mac has only 1 optical audio output and no space for expansion (due to its size). Can I have a speaker setup like that or would I have to purchase a different kind of speakers?

Thanks very much for your time,

John ;)

  1. I hate to rain on your parade but those aren't good speakers. Those are at best fair speakers. They are not bad for PC class speakers but in the grand scheme of things PC class speakers are junk. I would suggest you look for a HTIB (home theater in a box) system. At a minimum you want a system that has an optical input so you can hook your Mac up properly and have the system decode the digital sound the Mac will send to it.

  2. Those speakers are garbage...get some Behringers.

  3. YES,IT WILL WORK BUT YOU MAY NEED A SEPERATE AMPLIFIER SOURCE INLINE BETWEEN THE PC AND THE SPEAKER SYSTEM AS YOUR PC OUTPUT MAY NOT BE ABLE TO RUN THE OUTPUT OF THAT SYSTEM PROPERLY.POSSIBLY A 100 WATT HOME THEATRE AMPLIFIER OR A FM STEREO RECIEVER WITH AN AUX CONNECTION ON THE BACK OF IT WILL DO JUST FINE JOHN.
