Surround sound on laptop?

how do i know if my laptop support surround sound?? it has 4 usb port, ethernet jack, monitor jack, s video out jack, headphone jack, microphone jack, IEEE 1394(i dont know what's that for), modem jack, memory card reader, and pc card slot. And can i download a software that can add a surround sound on my laptop? or do i need to buy a speaker or something??

  1. surround sound = the sounds surrounds you(wou woulda thought)?

    laptop sound= 2 little speakers directly in front of you (not = surrounding you)

    you have options for adding surround sound though...

    you can get a Y-cable to plug in your laptop into a surround sound receiver using the headphone jack (this will not produce true surround sound as it will still only be stereo)

    or you can use a USB slot to add true 5.1 surround sound to your laptop (all you have to do is by surround sound speakers with a USB input)

    btw- IEEE 1394, otherwise known as Firewire, is commonly used in video cameras and other types of devices, it is faster than USB and there are major differences between the two


  2. all that  pretty much means nothing... you will need alot more speakers to make it surround sound. my suggestion... maybe.. buy a Acer aspire 8920 lol
