Im thinking of getting surround sound in my bedroom although the distance from the front speakers and rear speakers would be around 2m. Is that going to be a problem?

  1. as a rule of thumb the distance between the side speakers should be half of the distance between the viewer and the center speaker . imagine a triangle with the viewer at the apex. The height of that triangle is twice the length  of the base line. hope that makes sense , its hard to explain, brain not functioning today. never sunday drinking again.

  2. It's not optimal but will give you much better sound than not having surround. You may have to play around with the delay on your receiver a bit since 2m is very close.

  3. 2m?  What, are you planning on nailing the speakers to your bedposts or something?  (well, that's what I did, so...)

It'll work, though it's not quite a normal setup.  Some newer receivers come with a built-in speaker configuration test that will take care of the more difficult parts of configuring the speakers.

  4. Although your fronts and rears are very close to each other, as long as each surround speaker is the same distance away from the listening position you should still get a decent sound.
