Okay so i been trying to figute this out since yesterday. I have a Coby 5.1 Home Theater System w/ built in dvd player. Now i put the blue red and green cables to the tv and then i hooked an optical cord from xbox 360 to receiver. i dont get any sound so i tryed to put the white and red cables in the receiver and i only get 2.0 sound. Someone told me that since it has a dvd player built in that means i can only get surround sound on dvd. but it has an optical output. am i going to have to get a new receiver? please help.

  1. well you cant input into an output.  if its an optical "output" you cant input xbox audio into the HTS. but if it is an "input" try changing the audio source on ur HTS to digital, and make sure the xbox audio output is set to digital.

"Someone told me that since it has a dvd player built in that means i can only get surround sound on dvd"

this is not true if there are audio inputs on ur system.

  2. Can you tell me which Coby Model you have?
