Surround spound for ps3 through optical cable?

i have new home cinema system sony dav-dz860w. my tv only has 1 hdmi so i connect ps3 through this and then optical cable ffom ps3 to home cinema. my problem is that i only get surround sound through the front speakers - i have changed the audio seting in ps3 to optical after that i'm at a loss - anyone any ideas how to fix this?

  1. There are 2 important sets that you may do to set it up correctly;

    1.- Make sure your PS3 is settle for sorround sound, go to setting, audio settings, and select sorround (sound with rear speakers)

    2.- Your cinema systema, have several audio options, sony uses a visual diagram, on each selection you see if woofer and rear speaker are turned on, if it is doesn´t select any with Dolby sorround or THX or DTS optical (audio effect), and you will be all set, to listen to your full sorround system.

    Ok, if you have your cinema system on "pro logic", then, you must need to check your plugs, make sure you pluged the optical HDMI correctly to your sound/cinema system, other, make sure if you are using optical wire that you plug the end in to the digital input, (some times it is confusable to use output instead, double check) go to sound options at PS3 main frame and turn your digital/optical sound on
