Survery. Do you think a zebra is white with black stripes or vice-versa?

My opinion is that zebras are white with black stripes because all the black stripes end at the belly of the zebra which is mostly white. But, others say that a zebra is black because if you shave all the fur off of the zebra its skin is black.

Now, I'd like you to state your opinion and why. Try not to put in neither for an answer. Thanks.

Here's a picture of a zebra belly.

  1. nobody knows...

  2. I'm afraid it isn't much of a survey as the correct answer is that they are black with white stripes.

  3. Hmm both good points but I think I'm going to have to go with Black with white stripes, because my black dog has black skin. Unless the skin under the white stripes is white....

  4. that is the best you can come up with?

  5. i agree white w/ black stripes

it looks that way from the naked human eye

  6. White with black stripes.

  7. umm. i think black with white stripes only because its more creative, and i am a creative person. so idk if that does you a lot of good.

  8. You can conduct all the surveys you want.  Science has proof.  The zebra is black with white stripes.

If you think about it you would understand why.  How well would a white horse or any member of the Equine family survive in the wild if it was white?

Not only that but the primary coloration in wild animals comes from melanin.  This accounts for the dominate color in animals, gray and browns.  The more melanin the darker the color.

Your survey proves nothing.  Except people are lazy and wont look up the facts.

  9. A zebra is black with white stripes.
