My mom puts a little garlic in them. I usually add gravy. I sometimes add salt.

But this little something doesn't make it taste more interesting...

It's a little something I learned when I was working my way through school in kitchens in Paris...

It's a little something, just a tiny bit of something that makes mashed potatoes taste "more" like mashed potatoes.

Nutmeg.  Just a couple of scrapes if you have a whole nut, just a knife point's worth if you don't.  And that's for the whole big pot of 'em.

Makes your mashed potatoes taste more like mashed potatoes and if you've got that...who needs anything else...(OK, some gravy!)

I have a sister that I consider to be a nut case and she use to add raw eggs to her mashed potatoes. Interesting was definitely one word for them. LOL

I am not a nut case and add ketchup. LOL  : )

My son won't eat mash potatoes so rarely do them, know is weird as Irish grew up eating mash or boiled nearly every day I did.  They are nice when add some finely chopped spring onions or fried red onion, even garlic, makes them tastier.   Or crispy bacon even would be nice.....if one had the bacon that is........I like cooking chopped potatoe in oven with lots of veg, lots of spices, and olive oil, are delicious or bombay potatoes.........

I like to add cheese, bacon, and sour cream at the same time. Sometimes instead of bacon I use cut up chunks of lobster. It's one high calorie potato, but it's oh so good!

get a nice size head of garlic cloves should be big and roast it in the oven and add them to the mash,

my sister adds garlic powder cuz shes lazy but umm sour cream is nice too chives  some butter and maybe real bacon i like to bake mine so they come out crispy
