Question:

Survey: If you saw someone on the street dying of starvation

would you help them or a dying animal. This may seem like a really dumb question but I honestly believe some people would rather help an animal than another human being. I'm not an animal hater but I don't understand why you should pay 18 dollars to help an animal every month when Feed the Children only costs 3.50 cents a month. It may sound harsh but I find that to be ridculous.

  2. id choose the animal

...........cus if they were dying on a street in my town they would probably be a waster junkie

  3. I just answered a question a 13 year old girl had asked about what she should do with the $100 she had by telling her she should send it to Feed The Children.

  4. good point some people dont really care about others that might be the case..

  5. I love animals....I have donated to the Humane Society...but I have also helped out the poor and homeless.

And not to sound bad, but as an American, I think my fellow Americans should take care of our own country first.

  6. I'd help a dying animal, i'd laugh if it was a human.

I seriously doubt that you have even donated anything in your life, and I think you're an idiot.

  7. actaully, i would probably help the animal on the street over the human.  The human is most likely some lazy guy who spent all his money on drugs and alchohal instead of food and shelter.  America is a prosperous nation with plenty of open jobs.  There is no excuse to not have a job unless you are disabled.  Animals on the other hand are helpless.  as are children in third world countries.  so i would help one of them.  not the bum on the street.  And helping starving children in countries is harder than you think.   They are usually under the control of a corrupt military dictator.  Or,  their government is too poor to feed the kids themselves because the government doesnt allow women to work (which is cutting the work force in half thus limiting the prosperity).  At least tthats the problem with most of the african and asian thrid world countries.  You may feed that kid, but the government is gonna let that kid get raped or forced to fight in a war at the age of 10.  so, with humans, its a lose-lose situation.  animals are much easier to help.

  8. i would help the person a person has a soul and animals do not animals dont go to heaven so i would save the human so that they might one day see da paradise. P.S. i love your name it so true if ignorance is bliss then the world is having a good time

  9. i would buy them some food!

    animal or human.

if someone/something is dying of starvation them someone should help them.

  10. i would by food for the starving person then have someone help the beast i mean animal

  11. I would help both...

  12. I would help the person first.

As far as the donating part of the question, people can donate their own money to whichever group they want to.

  13. a Human who can actually talk. i don't like animals anyway so.

  14. I would help the person first but it depends on the situation, which one is more severe.

  15. I have helped both.

Sadly, people are often perceived as less safe to help than animals.

The media especially plays up the angry bum, the ungrateful adopted child, etc.

Dogs or cats will eat and be happy... the impression is that a dollar or two given to a homeless human will go to drugs or something. Or that looking a panhandler in the eye will invite an attack.

  16. Feed the Children also uses a lot of their funds to pay their employees, the chief executive makes over $200000 a year.

Personally I would try and help either. I'm a pet advocate, so of course I would try and help a pet. I also know that life has been really difficult for a lot of people and we all need help at some point. So if I saw a starving person on the street I would try and help them also.

  17. i'd save them both of course!

  18. both as i could

  19. animals have the same rights as humans so s***w u!!

  20. no it doesn't sound harsh

    your right.

people need to get their priorities straight.

    =/

  21. Feed the Children is a Christian organization.

Christian organizations have a bad reputation for using food supplies to recruit new believers - the old "Food in one hand and a Bible in the other" problem.

Many people ( including me) will not donate for this reason.

  22. Ok.

First, I think the situation you initially presented strays off a bit from the example that you gave.  So, I'm answering not based on your example but based only on the situation that you gave first.

You see, in my country, there are a lot of people on the streets dying of starvation.  They go around begging for change, food and all that.  They carry their babies around with them to make them look more pitiful.  However, people would rather not help them.  Because when they try to get change from their purse, the pitiful and hungry looking woman would grab your whole purse and run leaving you to beg (at least from your office mates when you hopefully get to work) for money for your ride home.

(Strangely enough, there is also an Anti-Mendicancy Law in here where beggars are not allowed in the streets. Giving to these beggars is also a violation of the law since if you give to them, then you encourage them to stay on the streets and beg some more.)

But then, trying to put myself in the situation, I think people would help the dying animal more than that man on the street because the animal would really be too weak to attack you.  It cannot "act weak" and then turn into this ferocious looking creature to eat you up, which is something that man can do.

I think it is all a matter of trust.  Sadly, man trust animals more than we trust our fellow human beings.  Because when animals attack, we understand the "animal instincts" in them, but when men attack, we can never understand the animal instincts in them.
