  1. Quarter Horse all the way for me!: my QH mare is so dependable and willing, sweet, cute, friendly smart, basicly everything you need in a good horse

I have actually never ridden an appendix but I know that Thoroughbreds most of the time, more high-strung and (*generally*) harder to ride

But if you are wondering what breed to buy or something it really depends on the horse or what style you ride

  2. I love the Quarter Horses.  A lot of them, even though not registered appendix, still have the Thoroughbred influence.  I just feel that with QH's, there is so much versatility.  They can be 14.2, athletic and tough, or 17h, graceful and sweepy.  They usually have such great attitudes, consistency, and beauty.

  3. I'm a member of AQHA and just recently registered my yearling "Obvious Ace Star".

I've ridden Thoughbreds before and always found them to be a little spooky but better in the hunter ring...better athletes.

Quarter horses make better trail horses and all around pleasure horses.

Maybe my next horse will be an Appendix!

  4. Quarter Horse They are all around great horses.

  5. QH. They can do just about anything

  6. Up until now all I have ever owned was OTTBs

    I now have an Appendix.

I like his personality and he is a great trail horse but I do sort of miss the feeling of riding a rocket of my last TB.

  7. Appendix.  You get the best of both worlds!

  8. qh my favorite <3 they are easy-going and lovible horses.

i have never ridden an appendix so i wouldnt know.

I havent really meet a thorughbred that i liked. the past 3 i have rode were a hard ride for me and i have been riding for almost 9 years and am a good rider. I did fall in love with one tb but every time i rode him he would lame up so i didnt buy him. I know qh are very hardy horses there my favorite.

  9. Quater horse because they can so do everything a TB can't

  10. Gimme a Quarter, Paint, or Appy. Cuz frankly the TB and the Apendex can't work a cow like a good ol' Quarter horse. But hey thats me nothing wrong with other breeds.

  11. Basically an Appendix Quarter Horse is just a QH that has the TB blood closer up. Almost all quarter horses today have some TB blood breed into them. Even the foundation horses have TB blood it's just further back.

Still at that, if an Appendix registered QH reaches a certain number of points in an event with AQHA (I think a ROM) then they are granted full registration...no more Blue Papers. Descendants of these horses no longer show as being from Appendix registered parents.

All that said, I prefer the QH's. They are more versatile, you get a tall thin Jumper or HUS type, a Bull-doggy rope horse or the fast quick barrel racers, cutters & reiners. All quarter horses just bred for different events. To me they are just great all around horses.

Nothing against either the TB or AQH have owned and ridden both at different times and really enjoyed them. But you did ask for preference.

  12. i like appendix cause theyre comfy bareback lol but saddles dont slip off them

quarters are great but theyre too flatbacked saddles dont fit them

i love tbs but theyre too boney lol it hurts your crotch to ride bareback

  13. THOROUGHBREDS all the way :D

    Love them!

  14. Quarter Horse all the way- its the versatility and the variety, along with the good mind that appeals to me.

I would consider an appendix though.

  15. i like the thoroughbred's spirit =D quarter horses are just too mellow for my taste, and i don't like their confirmation.

  16. 1. apendix just because that's the only choice i've ever owned/ridden.

    2. tb because i just like the breed, maybe someday i'll own one.

  17. Quarter horse; they are versatile and you can get different built ones depending on your fancy(petite fast ones for barrel racing), big muscular ones for halter/conformation showing, or tall skinny ones for hunter/jumper. Love their good nature, too.

  18. Quarter Horse <3
