caladesi islans or sanibel island and why

Personally I like Anna Maria Islands and Siesta Cay a lot more.  They are quieter, have nicer sand, and are just allow you to really relax!

Sanibel.  

You can drive on the island.  You don't get hauled into a ferry like a bunch of cattle.  You can stay as long as you like.  There is more to do.  There are not boats all over the shore like at Caladesi.

Caladesi is pretty don't get me wrong but I would recommend Sanibel.

Sanibel and Captiva Islands are very nice gulf coast islands to visit.  The beaches are great for collecting shells and the sunsets are beautiful.

That said, Siesta Key has wonderful, soft, white- white, sugar sand.  Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island are also nice gulf side getaways with great beaches, fun surf and incredible sunsets.

Caledesi was just named Best Beach in America this year - and has the crowds to prove it. Unless 5 square feet of sand is all you need for beach space, go somewhere else until the buzz dies down. Not to mention, it's not exactly easy to get to. Sanibel is lovely. It is an exclusive island, never crowded, & has the best shelling anywhere in the world. Because the fabulously wealthy have homes there, there are world class restaurants & fabulous boutiques. The town of Sanibel has done a wonderful job restricting growth & preserving the natural landscape. It is a beautiful, peaceful place where you will see many visitors & residents traveling on bicycles. Small town & sophisticated at the same time, Sanibel would be my pick.

Neither ... i like cocoa beach or clear-water. Much quieter and nicer sand. x
