Survey on Muslim women.?

Question

I want to see the amount of Muslim woman who do or do not work. If you do or do not work please state your reason why? Also if you do not work then how do you contribute to society besides looking after your children.

Remember this is a survey so it should just be answering my questions nothing else. Muslim men who wish to answer on their wives behave are more than glad to do so.

I don't work , and i don't want to.

I think being a mom is a full time job... actually its the hardest Job ever!!!!!

And morad have a good finance...so i don't need having a job to support my family financially and pay the bills since he can afford everything.

How to contribute to the society??

By raising my kids well , and making them a well behaved Muslims who help others .

The mom is the school to her Kids, and Inshallah my kids will be successful doctors, business persons and engineers :D

And by that am raising ppl who will contribute good to the society

At least i wont add an extra criminal or their to the societies.

Most criminal are ppl who were not looked at or Guided well.

Hello.  ALL women work.  You should perhaps rephrase your question to say "Do you work at a paid job outside your home?"  

My husband and I have a home-based business and we both work to make it succeed.  This allows us to stay in close contact with our children and it allows me to take care of my house and teach them.  

Women who don't work outside the home contribute to society in more important ways than just earning money: they raise the next generation of children.  Raising kids well is the ultimate in contributing to society.  

I find the tone of your questions to be leading in the direction of disrespecting women who work in the home.  You should really phrase them better.

May Allah guide you to the best in this world and the next.  Ameen.

My mother and my sister are Muslim so I guess I can answer on their behalf:

My mother is a housewife but she has a university degree and she used to own a franchise but she gave it up when my autistic brother became an adult and couldnt go to school full time anymore...so she stays home to take care of him and to organize his days (workers come over to our house now and he has to be picked up/dropped off at day programs) etc.

My sister just graduated from university last year and is currently looking for employment.

As for contributing to society, they dont volunteer or anything but its more about certain types of constraints really like time, availability etc.

A lot of my Muslim cousins work or go to school or both and some volunteer.

I think that they are the type that even when they get married (if they do) they will continue learning and working.

Here in Singapore, Indonesia & Malaysia most of wives of my Muslim friends are working. They have maids looking after the house & children.

I get paid for my part in the students union...

I value my education and take part in student politics because its fulfilling.

and in my family if you dont work and go to uni (boy or girl) then you are considred a disgrace to the family name...

I do not work because I am under 16 years old of age, therefor I cannot get a job. I do not have children, and am not married. I don't contribute to society, I'm too lazy.

Most women work and then most women dont.. but not all of them work cause they dont want to stay in the house cleaning and feeding they work cause there short of money..oh and my mum works.. but 80% of the women in my family do not work..:)

i had a part time job on the side of college -- then I quit and almost pressed chages for discrimination.

now i go to a dentist clinic and shadow the doctors. i plan on working on my career right after i graduate.

by the way, i dont see anything wrong with being a stay at home mom. theyre just women who decide they dont want to be another worker ant and feel their childrens lives are more inportant than more cash. i would quit my job if i had children. and i say that having learned from parenting books, not religion.

I work a full time job with great benefits and I go to college part time.

I work to make money to support myself financially and I go to college to get an even better job.

Now my brother is an IT application director in Wall Street, my second brother goes to school, my other brother works in a bank.

i want to work, maybe next year i will be able to. I am going to school though now though. my mom works, as well as being a housewife. and my sister is getting a job at her university in the fall, as well.

i suppose they (and soon me :P lol) work for the same reasons as anybody else. lol.
