Survey reveals anger of fans against Miami Marlins’ recent payroll purge - MLB Update
Results of the survey, which was carried out by Bendixen and Amandi International, state that the bulk of the Marlins’ fans are disgruntled and extremely disappointed at the moment. It has demonstrated that a major portion of the fan base of the Marlins
is disheartened and pessimistic about the future of the team.
Profit seeking mindset of the owner, Jeffrey Loria has been blamed by the fans as the reason why the club is struggling. They maintain that Loria along with his crew is leading the Marlins toward another disastrous performance after failing during the 2012
regular season.
Fans have warned that they can exercise the option of dumping their tickets if the Marlins continue disappointing them. Survey has clearly proven that the Marlins are on the brink of losing their loyal fans and making them follow other teams despite belonging
to South Florida.
In the upcoming season, the Marlins will have a handful of individuals capable of unleashing shows at-par with other Major Leaguers. The majority will be a mediocre and incompetent lot of players that sit on the roster more due to the dearth of the options
for the club than having excellent Major League credentials.
Against this backdrop, fans will find little motivation for visiting the ballpark next year.
Response of some of the fans in the Poll was worth noticing. Fans are aware of whose pockets the money was paid for the construction of the Marlins new ballpark. They are mindful of the fact that Loria himself expended only a little portion of the total
expenditure.
“He is a greedy crook, got what he wanted and now is not giving back to us. He should repay the city for the entire cost of the stadium plus interest,” one of the respondents to the survey said.
Angry fans are least hopeful about the change in performance of the team, for as long as Loria remains the owner of the club. They want to have someone else in his place as owner because Loria is concerned more about profits than building a strong and competitive
baseball team.
Fans will be hoping that team officials start thinking seriously about making the Marlins a formidable Major League Baseball club.
