Why are you giving everyone that said "no" to getting a pitbull terrier, thumbs down? Isn't that a little conceited? They seem to all have their reasons. Just because they can't get one because they're illegal, doesn't mean you have to give them a bad rating.

4. Do you mean at what age I am or what age the dog is? Well I am assuming you mean my age, and I think at 15 or whenever the person is ready (meaning had done enough to research to know how to properly care for a dog).

If you meant at what age the dog would be then I would say 10 weeks old so you can train them and so they will grow up around you.

5. Yes I would. If I one day ready and capable of caring for one I will definitely get one.

You really want a dog don't you? I've noticed that you ask a lot of dog related questions. If your parents won't let you have one that is okay, don't give up just keep asking and keep proving to them you can care for a dog. I have been asking for a dog since I was in the 5th grade and I never gave up and I finally have one now. My dad said okay in the middle of my 12th grade year. Yes I know that is a long time considering I asked him since grade 5 but better late than never right?

1 - I don't know what type of residence you live in.  Are you in the city in a condo or in the country on a large farm.  Certain breeds need to run and will do horribly in a condo.

2 - I like Golden Retrievers, Great Danes, Basset Hounds and Saint Bernards.  I would also consider a Cocker Spaniel though make sure you meet the parents for the Cocker Spaniels and Saint Bernards.

3 - I would have to meet a dog and get to know it's personality and what it looks like to pick a name.

4 - When a child is old enough to treat a dog properly and old enough to get away from a teething puppy then a person is old enough for a dog of a non-aggressive breed.

5 - I would never get a pit bull or staffordshire terrier.  Idiots have ruined the breeds.

I don't think any specific age is best ...there are very mature, responsible 10 yr. olds and very immature, irresponsible 40 yr. olds

I wouldn't specifically choose one.  I have nothing against them but they're just not a personal fave of mine.  If one came to me somehow or needed a home I wouldn't refuse it though.

2. Out of just the ones you listed I'd say Golden but my favorites are English Mastiffs.

4. If you're in a family, I think when the children are older and can help take care of them to learn responsibility. If you're living on your own I'd say definetly not until you're financially stable as pets can be very expensive. If you meant the dog's age, I'd say no younger then 8wks.

2: From the given list, GSD. They're one of my all time favorite breeds, though you've missed my other favored breeds.

3: A GSD? Hans. Or Gretchen.

4: Between 8 and 12 weeks, closer to 12 weeks if possible. OR - about two or three years, once past the silly teenage years. Essentially, I want to either train the dog the whole way, or let someone else train the dog the whole way - no switching training methods in the middle, and messing with the dog's head.

5: Probably not - I'm not afraid of them, and I'm entirely confident in my handling, training, and socializing skills, but they're just not a breed that appeals to me.

4. I believe the minimum age to let any puppy go to a new home is 8 weeks. I, personally, would prefer to wait until 10 weeks, though.

5. Yes! I hope to get one some day when I have the space and time for one. They're wonderful dogs if properly bred, socialized, and trained. I'd probably consider rescuing one, though. There are lots of APBT/APBT mixes in shelters that are in desperate need of a good home. I'd be sure the dog was a good canine citizen. I'd even want to do therapy work with it just to prove they're not bad dogs like people believe.
