Franco Brienza insists that his team’s quest to survive in the Italy’s top flight for Serie A is like championing the UEFA Champions League.
The Tuscans are in a strong position to finish their second consecutive season in Serie A, without suffering relegation from the Italy’s top flight. They are currently placed 15th in the league standings, and have a six-point cushion over the
relegation zone.
However, the team will have to emerge from a test of fire towards the end of the season, in order to qualify for the next season of Serie A. They are set to host Udinese in their next league fixture, and still have to lock horns with AC Milan, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan,
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 before the season comes to a close. All of the aforementioned teams are not just giants of Italian football, but also blood thirsty with AC Milan running in a close tie with Juventus for Scudetto, and the rest jostling each other for the last
UEFA Champions League qualification spot.
The Siena playmaker insisted that they are aware that the clash against Udinese will be fierce, and insisted that his team will have to be flawless to get a good result. He insisted that the enormity of challenge is equal to the thickness of UEFA Champions
League for the club seeking survival.
While talking to Corriere dello Sport, the midfielder said:
“They are chasing third place, they are fearsome. However, for us to gain survival is like winning the Champions League. So we cannot afford any missteps.”
The playmaker insisted that a unified team effort will be required to limit the opposition’s players such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Di-Natale-c6306 from making a mince meat out of Siena’s defence. The Tuscan midfielder insisted that the points will come hard for the club at
this stage of the competition, but it is important that the team gives its all in order to earn a qualification.
“[Antonio] Di Natale is able to change the game at any time, but we play as a team and we can try to limit him. At this stage of the season, the points weigh very heavily and we must pick them up. I do not know yet how many we need for survival, it is not
the right time to make calculations.” He added.
